Woman struck at intersection by suspected drunken driver in Houston

HOUSTON – A suspected drunken driver has been arrested after hitting a woman, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident happened at 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Durham Drive and Washington Avenue.

An HPD sergeant saw a vehicle hit the woman walking in the intersection and immediately activated their emergency lights to stop the driver involved, police said.

The woman was unconscious for a few minutes and then regained consciousness after Houston police arrived.

The driver reportedly stopped after the intersection and showed signs of impairment. The driver was taken into custody and the woman was taken to a nearby trauma center. She is expected to survive.

Charges for the driver are pending.
