And with the recent success of the highly acclaimed film, The Iron Claw, starring Zac Efron, which tells the story of Texas’ own Von Erich family, this could not come at a more ideal time! If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I highly recommend it (even as someone who has not followed the sport).

The Von Erich family left an indelible mark in the Lone Star State, which is why NWA President and Smashing Pumpkins frontman, William “Billy” Corgan says Texas was the perfect choice to host the prestigious event.

“We are thrilled to bring the Crockett Cup to Texas for the first time ever,” he said in a press statement. “Texas has a rich wrestling tradition, and we are honored to showcase the best tag team talent in the world in front of the passionate wrestling fans of the Lone Star State.”
